Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)

The following are risk factors for AAA:

Family History Smoking
Age                        (Increasing incidence with increasing age) Gender                  (Males have a higher incidence than females)
High Blood Pressure   (Hypertension) Atherosclerosis   (Hardening of the arteries)

Some facts about AAA:

AAA is the 9th leading cause of death in the United States

Some literature indicates a link between increased serum C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in the blood and AAA. The feeling is the increased CRP might be from the inflammatory process of the AAA.
