The
aorta is the large main artery which carries oxygenated blood to
the rest of the body. Segments of your aorta were visualized and
measured in your abdomen (belly) region. The abdomen is often
where an aneurysm (defined as an area where the walls of the
aorta weaken and dilate (become balloon-like)) is likely to
form. When this occurs in the abdomen, it is known as an
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA). If your aortic diameter
is greater than 1.5 times its' normal size or if it is greater
than 3 cm in diameter, it is considered aneurysmal. |
