Zone 1 |
Indicates
a normal vessel lumen (the inner open space where the
blood is) and a normal intima-medial wall thickness
(IMT). |
|
Zone 2 |
Indicates an increased intima-medial wall thickness.
This is seen as a precursor to early cardiovascular
disease. In general, increased IMT is associated with
increased cardiovascular risk. |
|
Zone 3 |
Indicates regions of plaque build-up. This indicates
cardiovascular disease is present
which should be followed routinely for progression or
worsening.
|
|
Zone 4 |
Indicates a significant plaque build-up is present and
should be followed by your physician with additional
testing. |
