Intima-medial
Thickness (IMT) is a measurement of the wall thickness of your
Carotid Artery. Early phases of atherosclerotic plaque
formation may result in thickened arterial walls. Your wall
thickness was compared with a database of 15,000 participants in
the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) trial. Abnormal
measurements are considered to be above the 75th percentile when
compared to this database, providing strong association with
cardiovascular disease.
