Stroke and Vascular Disease are leading causes of death and disability in the United States.

First, we evaluate our patients for the three leading causes and risk factors for a stroke:

Carotid Artery Disease Plaque build up in the carotid artery causes a blockage of blood flow to the brain.
Atrial Fibrillation An abnormal electrical conduction in the heart which causes insufficient pumping of the blood through the heart and body.
Hypertension High blood pressure from the force of your blood pumping through your arteries.

Our stroke screening looks for and identifies abnormalities in each of these risk categories.

Then, we assess our patients' abdominal aorta.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is a dilation (ballooning) of a portion of the aorta. Approximately 18,000 people die each year from an abdominal aneurysm rupture. Most of these people have NO SYMPTOMS from their aneurysm until it becomes an emergency.

Our abdominal ultrasound screening identifies abnormalities in this important blood vessel.
